Caption: No Luck for a Lady

One of the less active users liked the last pulp cover, so gets one of her own:

Not quite the complete screwball piece as the previous one, because the really weird pulps have to come to you rather than be looked for, apparently.  It's a nice cover, though, and one think I'm wondering if the folks on that other site will pick up is that the quotes are both opposite-sex pseudonyms for other mystery writers.

Caption: The Dead Ringer

Might start posting the captions I do at Rachel's Haven here too, just because that place has sometimes seemed rickety.

This one was done for user "Lisbeth", who is a fun trading partner both because her preferences are pretty far-ranging and aligned with mine - wide-open and looking at how things play out more than playing on one specific sexual endgame - and because she's really enjoyed the pop culture remixes I've done.  I should probably learn Photoshop or some Photoshop-like tool, because what I can do in paint.net can kind of constrain where I can go with a story sometimes, but part of what I like about captions is the challenge of fitting a story into the existing image, which is especially tricky when there's text to work with.

I knew I was going to do something with this cover as soon as I saw it posted by a Bluesky account that specializes in pop-culture ephemera (pro tip: for every person you follow who posts about current events, try to follow something entirely goofy, and make sure to offset the change when the goofy folks start posting about current events because life has intruded on them); it's just too delightful and plays into my fondness for brain transplants.
